Read and do the following model exercise. Then make up a similar OPEN DIALOGUE with statement and functions using some of the verbal exchanges found in Basic English Units 1 – 5

OPEN DIALOGUE: Write the best response in the blanks according to the functions indicated. (Mary Velazquez is studying English in Miami. It is her first day at the English Institute. She begins a conversation with a fellow student that she doesn’t know)

MARY: Hello my name is Mary. What’s your name?

CARLOS: I’m carlos (respond)

MARY: Oh, it’s nice to meet you, Carlos.

CARLOS: Nice to meet you, too, Mary.

(Ask Mary where she is from)

Where are you from , Mary?

MARY: I’m from Venezuela.

(Ask Carlos if he is Colombian?)

you are of Colombia , Carlos

CARLOS: Yes, I’m from Bogota.

(Ask Mary if this is her first day here)

MARY. Yes, it is.

CARLOS: (Wish Mary luck)

OPEN DIALOGUE: yenny ortiz went to the Bogota university to study abogado.es its first day and rodrigo its companion begins the conversation

RODRIGO: Hello, my name is Rodrigo. What is your name?

Yenny: hello my name is yenny

RODRIGO: Oh, it' s Nice to meet you, YENNY.

Yenny: Nice to meet you, also, RODRIGO

RODRIGO: of where you are

Yenny: I am of Cali, your you are of Colombia,

RODRIGO: I am not Venezuelan, is your first day

Yenny here: if it is my first day

RODRIGO: good luck
